Made from recycled paper pressed into soft pellets rather than clay or wood, this is the litter to reach for in a rabbit or guinea pig tray. Clumping clay litter can cause a dangerous gut blockage if a curious animal nibbles or ingests it, and softwood shavings like pine or cedar give off oils linked to respiratory and liver problems with regular exposure. Paper pellets do neither, they are low-dust and reasonably absorbent, and they hold up fine under a corner tray topped with hay. Sold as cat litter, but it is the same safe material small-pet-specific litters charge more for.
