Sand-Bath Box

An enclosed sand bath that keeps a hamster's digging and grooming in one place. Dwarf hamsters and gerbils clean their coats by rolling in sand, not water.

Our take

Hamsters and gerbils keep their fur clean by rolling in sand, and they love to dig, so a sand bath scratches two natural itches at once. This enclosed box contains the sand a hamster would otherwise kick across the room, and doubles as a digging spot and often a toilet corner, which actually helps keep the rest of the cage cleaner. Fill it with proper reptile or hamster bathing sand, not dusty craft sand or calcium 'sand', which can cause respiratory trouble. Leave it in the cage and let them use it whenever they like.
