Our take
Birds use UVB light to make vitamin D3, which they need to actually absorb calcium, and glass windows filter most of it out, so an indoor bird can be calcium-deficient even on a good diet. This lamp provides UVA and UVB over the cage for a few hours a day, which supports bone health and often lifts mood and feather condition too. Position it the correct distance per the instructions, replace the bulb yearly since UV output fades before the light dies, and always give the bird shade to move into.
