Reptiles are exacting about temperature and humidity, and each species has a range it needs to digest, shed and stay healthy. You cannot judge either by feel, so a gauge is not optional. This reads both from one unit; place the probe at the animal's level, and ideally use two, one at the warm end and one at the cool end, so you know the whole gradient.
