Our take
Feeder insects are badly calcium-deficient, so an insect-eating reptile that is not getting dusted calcium is heading for bone disease. This fine powder is made to coat crickets and worms before feeding, phosphorus-free so it does not throw off the calcium balance. The D3 version helps calcium absorb, useful especially where UVB is marginal, though you should not overdo D3 if the animal also has good UVB. A calcium-without-D3 version exists for heavier dusting; many keepers rotate the two.
