ReptiSun 10.0 UVB

The UVB tube most reptile keepers trust. Without UVB, most reptiles cannot use calcium and slowly develop crippling bone disease.

Our take

This is the single most important, and most often skipped, piece of reptile kit. Day-active reptiles, bearded dragons, tortoises, most lizards, need UVB light to make vitamin D3 and absorb calcium; without it they develop metabolic bone disease, a slow, cruel, entirely preventable crippling. ReptiSun 10.0 is the long-trusted standard. Replace the bulb every 6 to 12 months, since UV output fades long before the light dies, mount it the correct distance with no glass or plastic blocking it, and give the animal shade to retreat to.

  • For vitamin D3 and calcium

Who it is for

  • Most day-active reptiles

Who should skip it

  • Purely nocturnal species with lower UVB needs
  • Mounting behind glass or plastic, which blocks UVB
