Our take
Tree-dwelling reptiles, crested geckos, chameleons, arboreal snakes, live their lives off the ground, and a tank with nothing to climb wastes the space and bores the animal. These flexible vines bend and twist into a 3-D network of climbing routes and perches at different heights and temperatures, letting the animal choose where to sit. Wipe them down and they last for years. For a ground-dweller they matter less, but for a climber they are close to essential.
