Our take
Ich, those tell-tale white spots and a fish flashing against the decor, is the disease almost every fishkeeper faces eventually, usually after adding a new fish. It is highly contagious but very treatable if you catch it early. This does the job over a five-day course. Raising the temperature a little speeds the parasite's life cycle so the medication can hit it, remove carbon first, and treat the whole tank since the parasite is already everywhere in it, not just on the spotty fish.
