Same job as Stability from a different brand: SafeStart adds live nitrifying bacteria to a brand-new, sterile filter so it can start processing ammonia sooner, cutting the risk of new tank syndrome. It is popular for a careful fish-in cycle on a lightly stocked tank. The usual honesty applies: bottled bacteria helps, but you still need to test the water daily through the first weeks and be ready to do water changes if ammonia climbs. Do not add it at the same time as a dechlorinator that detoxifies ammonia, which can starve the bacteria.
