Our take
A plastic ring holds a ball a cat can bat but never free, so it keeps coming back for another swipe with no batteries and no setup. The replaceable cardboard scratch pad in the middle gives the paws somewhere legitimate to go, and you can rub the included catnip into it to renew interest. It is one of the better value solo toys, though determined chewers will shred the pad over time.
