Small pets do not wear their nails down enough indoors, and overgrown ones catch on things, curl, and can even grow into the pad. A proper small-animal trimmer is sized and sharp for their thin nails, unlike a bulky dog clipper. Trim just the clear tip, keeping well clear of the pink quick (a torch helps you see it on dark nails), and do a couple at a time if the animal squirms. Have styptic powder handy in case you nick the quick. It is easiest as a two-person job, one to hold, one to snip.
