Our take
You will need to move your bird eventually, to the vet, on holiday, in an emergency, and a loose bird in a car is dangerous for everyone. A proper travel carrier is small enough to feel secure, since birds panic in too much space, has a perch to grip and cups for food and water, and buckles in safely. Line it with a towel, cover it partly to reduce stress, and keep it somewhere you can grab it fast if you ever need to evacuate.
